Patient-Centered Doctor’s Competency Framework in Korea

With increasing demands for medical care by society, the system, and general citizens rapid changes in doctor’s awareness, competencies required of doctors are also changing. The goal this study was to develop a competency framework from patient’s perspective, make it basis development milestones entrustable professional activities each period student education resident training. To end, big data analysis using topic modeling performed on domestic international research papers (2011–2020), newspaper articles (2016–2020), social networking service (2016–2020) related competencies. Delphi surveys were conducted twice with 28 experts. In addition, survey among 1,000 citizens, 407 nurses, 237 students, 361 majors, 200 specialists. Through above process, six core competencies, 16 sub-competencies, 47 derived as subject-oriented were: (1) disease health an expert; (2) patients communicator; (3) colleagues collaborator; (4) society leader (5) oneself professional, (6) academics scholar who contributes medicine.
